
The General Electricity Company Of Libya (GECOL) said in a statement ,on 23 May, that an emergency outage was beyond the company’s control as a result of a malfunction in one of the high-voltage transformers with a voltage of 30/220, in which it led to the shutdown of generation units across the eastern region,the GECOL also mentioned that maintenance works are under way.
Two sources from the Western region have told libya energy that electricity was still cut off in large parts of the city of Benghazi from 23 may evening until 14:00 on 24 may , while it gradually returned to some areas.
The company had reassured in the same statement the citizens that its technical teams continue to work intensively and around the clock to ensure that electricity is restored as soon as possible.
