The National Oil Cooperation(NOC) said on 25 may that maintenance works are under way to contain the crude oil leak from a pipeline south of Zawiya.
The Cooperation noted in the statement that the maintenance teams from the Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO) have begun taking necessary measures immediately upon the discovery of a leak,where, Pumping from the Hamada fields via the affected pipeline was immediately suspended, with the valve at Al-Rayina closed and pressure relieved at the Zawiya refinery by opening flow valves.
According to the Corporation a team of specialists is investigating the cause of the recent leak. Simultaneously, preparations and coordination are in progress to contain and recover the spilled oil and reduce any environmental damage.
