The National Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced the restart of the second methanol plant belonging to the Sirte Oil and Gas Production and Processing Company following a seven-year shutdown. The NOC stated on 30 March that engineering teams had completed maintenance work, including the installation of a natural gas heater, thereby allowing the plant to resume operations.
The NOC added in its statement that company engineers are continuing maintenance on the first methanol plant. This includes an overhaul, the installation of reformer tubes and an upgrade to the control system.
The statement added that the two methanol plants have a production capacity of 2,000 metric tons per day.
