A group from Japan’s Kikuchi Equipment and Engineering Company (KEEC) visited the Bir Al-Osta Milad electrical substation in east Tripoli on 22 March in connection with finalising work on new cabling there. KEEC operates in partnership with the Libya’s Al-Hazma Al-Dawiya Contracting Company which specialises in installing ultra-high-voltage cables for power transmission networks.
According to a statement from the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL), a team from the Japanese firm will work on developing an action plan for the implementation of the final stages of Power Converter Cable No. 2 at the station.
Other work includes maintenance of cables at the Khoms power station, 127 kilometres east of Tripoli. These will then be connected to the electricity grid.
The work is being undertaken to increase the power supply and keep pace with the expected upcoming summer peak loads.
