The National Oil Corporation (NOC) has categorically denied claims made by some media outlets that foreign armed forces have been deployed to protect a number of oil fields and facilities.
In a statement posted this evening, the NOC insisted that all oil field and facilities are guarded purely by Libyan nationals from the military or security organisations.
In its statement, the NOC denounced the allegations as false and called on all media outlets, national and international, to first fact-check reports before publishing them and to avoid misleading the public and stirring up problems.
